Seaside Sparrow

Ammodramus maritimus

Bombay Hook, Delaware, USA - July 2002

This juvenile Seaside Sparrow was recently fledged and was still a bit uncooridinated in its efforts to move through the dense reedbeds, frequently losing its balance.

Bombay Hook, Delaware, USA - June 2002

Males stake out their territories from prominant perches. This one was leaning further and further back as its singing got more and more enthusiastic. By the end it was leaning so far back I was convinced it was about to fall off its perch!
